- Stumble lived up to its name. We started at the Pub (which has
some new name; see picture of bartender with excellent shirt). From
the Pub it was on to "Knight's Out" (except for Fish, who had to go
home to relieve his parent's of babysitting duty), the new name of
Bull's. Knight's Out has turned into a relatively rough bar, so being
pussies, we didn't spend much time there. From there it was on to
Copper Bar, where we spent a couple hours playing 3-ball. Highlights
of 3-ball included a poolie named Karen pulling down her shirt at
least 3 times to bare all, and a 21-year old local named Larry who was
called on the bar phone twice by his extremely pissed girlfriend who
wanted him to get his ass home to help take care of their kid (the
second call was terminated by him making static sounds [ala "going
through the tunnel"] and claiming there was a bad connection and
hanging up). For most, the night ended, but Pave and McKay hung on for
another beer at Finlan's, which was officially closed, but McKay used
his charisma to get 2 beers from the bartender.
Most memorable events:
- Everybody but Fish and Pave pulled off an overthrow of tradition
and cancelled the kanoes ... without telling Fish and Pave, who showed
up at the launch site, unloaded the flagship, only to be laughed at.
- Nevertheless, Fish and Pave paddled down to the site (quickly on
the high river), drank OM's at the site, had lunch at the Way Station
in town, and then drove down to Dushore to meet everyone at Jones'
cabin.
- Dud, as usual, won the gunner of the year award. Nobody joined him.
- Furree and Vich's potato guns!
- Fish killed a rabbit with a BB gun. Vich skinned it, we cooked it
on the campfire. Only Fish and Pave partook in the meat ... which was
tough, but tasted like chicken.
- Breakfast, as usual, at Pam's in Dushore.
