Annals of Kanoe - Volume VI-X

Kanoe VI

When: August 1-2, 1992

Who attended:

Pave, Fish, Wil, Vich, Furree, Rocky, and Grass

Most memorable events:

Fish takes his 1st annual fire dance, OM becomes the official beer, the Kanoe shrine is christened, Dud/Grass makes his first trip

Most memorable picture:

Sitting on the stone

An unusually high amount of rainfall caused the Susquehanna to be very high in August 1992. This was the first year that we were actually able to climb onto the Stone. Usually the Stone sticks out of the water twice as far as seen in this picture.

Pave, Fish, Vich, Wil, Furree, Rocky, Grass, Ham, and Bob

Most memorable events:

Bob. Poolie catching an awful bad carp. Connameyer stole our normal campsite, so we had to establish the alternate campsite. A valuable new skill is demonstrated to Grass.

Kanoe IX

When: August 12-13, 1995

Who attended:

Pave, Fish, Wil, Furree, Dud, Rocky, McKay, Boo, Ham, and Bob

Most memorable events:

Dud does 4 shotguns and lives. Boo gets used repeatedly as a story "model", then gets sick and goes to Towanda Memorial emergency room early Sunday morning. Excellent view of the construction and blasting of the Wysox Narrows. The first time the trip ended at the Standing Stone access rather than Terrytown (to make Sunday easier for those of us who travel a long ways).

Kanoe X

When: July 27-28, 1996

Who attended:

Pave, Fish, Vich, Wil, Furree, Dud, Rocky, McKay, Boo, Ham, and Bob

Most memorable events:

Fish provided professionally-made Kanoe T-shirts. Furree provided professionally-made Kanoe hats. Rocky brought Standing Stone wine and his new 15hp motor. Wil made T-bone steaks and hot breakfast. Furree and Vich were the victims of the first-ever Kanoe capsize - luckily they lost only an umbrella, a pot, and Vich's new T-shirt. The firewalk was taken to a higher level. Dud did 3 shotguns and barely lived.

The following appeared in the Towanda Daily Review on July 27, 1996:
